Classes 9-11. Thursday 11-25/06

Hello

These several weeks we were finishing our work through the whole trimestre.

We did a final test and according to the results some of you pass to the next grade.

We also showed our poject presentation to the parents and made a conclusion of our trimestre work!

This last week we were watching a film in English "Ratatouille".
Also today we announced the winner of our Olympic Games - Jimena DíazWell done!!!

Class 8. Thursday 28/05

Hello

Today we were preparing our presentation of the project.
We´ve divided the presentation in three parts according to the phases:
Jimena - phase 1 Siente (Feel)
Miguel - phase 2 Imagina (Imagine)
Marco and Lidia - phase 3 Actua (Act)

We prepared a short description of each phase in Spanish and English. On your pendrives you´ve got the pictures of each phase.

Now, our task is to make slides for the presentation:

  • select the best pictures of your phase
  • add the text in Spanish and English
  • add funny pictures
Be creative!

Class 7. Thursday 21/05

Hello

Today we revised saying the dates. We talked about famous people and their places and years of birth:

Who was William Shakespeare? - He was a famous writer.
When was he born? - He was born in 1564.
Where was he born? - He was born in - Stradford-upon-Avon.
When did he die? - He died in 1616.

We also revised the use of WAS/WERE with historic dates and events:

When was French Revolution? - It was in 1789.
What was in 1492? - A discovery of America was in 1492.


Your homework: read the text and fill in the gaps with "was/were".

Prepare the text for your presentation in Spanish.

Attentionnext class we´re going to have a Flipped Class (when you´re - teachers). Prepare some activities for the students from the other group on the topic "Summer"!

Class 6. Thursday 14/05

Hello

Today we checked our exercises from the video - Scene 1. And also we learnt some new vocabulary:
amazing, fantastic, rush hour, to show someone the sights, to hurry, terrible, traffic, surprise.

 We watched Scene 2 from the video and found out about the surprise for Ashlie!

We also started a new topic today - "Dates to remember" where we´re going to talk about the past.

We learnt how to say the year in English:
1456 - fourteen fifty-six
1809 - eighteen oh nine
1900 - nineteen hundred
2003 - two thousand and three

Class 5. Thursday 7/05

Hello

Today we watched two scenes from the video "Transport and Travel" - about the trip to London. We learnt new words:

to travel, cheap, busy, to leave, to decide, to find etc.

We did a True/False exercise from the video. Here´s a link for Scene 1 - watch it at home again.

We also watched Scene 2 and found out (averiguar) what was the surprise for Ashlie.

We also started to prepare our presentation of the project that we´re going to show at the end of the trimester. So, we outlined some stages that we had during our project:

3. Act (Actua) - Marco and Lidia take this part.

For the next time bring please the pen drives to get our photos of eaach stage.

Class 4. Thursday 30/04

Hello

Today we revised our prepositons and practised using them.

- Excuse me, how do I get to the library?
- Go straight on Hill Road, turn right and go along Green St. At the pet shop turn left. The library is on your right, opposite the clothes shop.

Today we learnt some new prepositions of place (under, behind, over, near etc.) and movement(along, up, down, across etc.):

The school is near the bank. (place)
Go down the street. (movement)


Your homework: to write 2 dialogues with the directions how to get to 2 places on your map.

Class 3. Thursday 23/04

Hello

Today we had a very interesting class! Finally, we put in action our project "Pick up your pets´ poo!!!"

We went to the park and gave the plastic bags to people with dogs. We also gave them small leaflets and candies for cooperation. It was a great experience!!!

Please, at home write a short summary with your impressions about the project and our today´s activity. What do you think about it? Do you think we´ve convinced people to make the town cleaner? 
Now, our next stage is - Share (Comparte)! We´ll have to make a short presentation about our project, to show photos and tell other people/students what we did.

Class 2. Thursday 16/04

Hello

Today we checked all our exercises and played some guessing games. We got the following points for our extra activities and Olympic Games:

Player 1 - 5 points
Player 2 - 2 points
Player 3 - 2 points
Player 4 - 2 point

We revised the places in the city/town describing them:
It´s a place where you can ... (buy bread, watch a film, play games, go shopping etc).

Also we learnt some prepositions of location to give directions in the city/town: go along, go straight ahead, turn right/left, take the first/second turning on your right/left, opposite, past etc.

We used the expressions to give directions:
Go along High Street. Then turn right. Go straight ahead past the cinema and then take the first turning on your right. There´s a museum opposite the park.

For our project: we´ve got the plastic bags and the posters printed. Your task at home is - to colour the posters, draw pictures on them. Also we have around one euro money left. Jimena is going to buy some candies that we´re going to give to people who take care of the parks and picks up after their pets.








So, next class (a part of the class) we´re going to the park to convince people to clean after their pets and care about the park. 















Your homework is draw a map of your town/neighbourhood, choose three places on the map and explain how to get there from your house (use the prepositions from the lesson).

Extra activity: watch a video with the map, draw a map following the instructions from the video. Write down the sentences (5 points).

Trimester III. Class 1. Thursday 9/04

Hello

Today we started our Trimester III, our last term this year, although some students were still on vacations.

So, we started a new topic "Tell me about your town" and learnt some new vocabulary to describe the city/town/village:
crowded, quiet, noisy, modern, tourist, historic, industrial, cheap, expensive, cosy etc.

We also revised some vocabulary from the last year - places in the city/town: playground, bank, post office, circus, police station, airport etc. 

We played Olympic Games and got first points:
Player 1 - 10 points
Player 2 - 4 points
Player 3 - 10 points
Player 4 - 4 points


There´s a big shopping centre in my town.
There are a lot of parks in my town.

Your homework: choose a city/town/village that you´ve visited and describe it using the expressons and adjectives, bring photos to show it.

Example: I like Kyiv, this is the capital of Ukraine. It´s a big modern city. It´s very beautiful, but also noisy and crowded. It´s tourist and historic, because there are a lot of monuments, churches and cathedrals there. It´s green, because there´s a river and there are many parks there.

We also discussed our plans for our project: 

Finally thanks to Jimena that raised some money for us at the Flea Market, we´ve got around 6 euros. We decided to buy some plastic bags for dog owners and give them in the park. Lidia is responsible for buying some bags for the next week.


Also you made some leaflets (folletos) where we ask people to clean after themselves. Your task now is to type it on the computer and decorate. Later we´re going to print them out.

Class 10. Thursday 26/03. End of trimester II

Hello

Today it was our last class in this trimester. To celebrate it we organised a Flea Market, a very funny and exciting activity. We decided to raise money for the charity organisation Design for Change or use it for our projects.

Children brought lots of different things - second-hand books, toys, hand-made jewelery, home-made food and drinks. Unfortunately, only Jimena wanted to participate in the market, the rest of the class refused to do it.


Also we have announced our Olympic Games winner. This trimester it´s Jimena. Congratulations!

Class 9. Thursday 12/03

Hello

Today we revised our Past Simple tense with the verb "to be":

Where was David at 6 a.m? - He was in his bed.
Where was he at 16 o´clock? - He was in the swimming pool.
Where were you yesterday? - I was in the park yetserday.

We also talked about the weather in the world yesterday:

What was the weather like in London yesterday? - It was sunny.
What was the weather like in Rio yesterday? - It was windy etc.

Look at the map and describe the weather yesterday!
In New York it was coudy yesterday etc.



We also continued with our project.

Day 4. Voting for the best ideas to solve our porblem and working out a step-by-step action plan.
  • We decided that we could buy a pack of plastic bags and as an campaign for our project give those bags to people who are walking with dogs! Good idea! 
  • We could get money from our Flea Market or organise one more paid activity.
  • Also we started to design small notes we´re going to give to each pet owner with the information - convincing pet owners to clean after their pets! Perfect!

Class 8. Thursday 05/03

Hello

Today we practised our new grammar - Past Simple (the verb "to be"):

was at the cinema yesterday? My mother was at home in the evening.
My friends were very happy etc.

We learnt some time expressions for our past tense (yesterday, last week (Saturday, winter, weekend), on Sunday evening, in 1998 etc.):

Where were you yesterday morning? - I was at home.



We played a Guessing Game and got some points for Olympic Games:

Player 1 - 2 points
Player 2 - 3 points
Player 3 - 6 points
Player 4 - 6 points

Today we continued our work on the project.
Day 3 - Brainstorm the ideas

Also we made a new step of our project. We had to brainstorm the ideas of how to resolve the problem we focused on:

Next class we´re going to decide on our strategy and actions!








Also this week we start an adventure with our Dragon. We´re going to "travel" with the Dragon and then tell some interesting things about different countries or cities:
